Hibernation

Below is a copy of the blog I posted on Deviant Art.

For the time being at least I have decided to hang up my camera. Will still honour any previously booked shoots but will not be accepting any new requests until further notice.

I do feel I owe my loyal supporters just a little explanation.
Your encouragement and critique, banter and witty remarks over the last 3 years have inspired me to push my limits and create pieces of work worthy of being called art.

My decision to call it a day on photography is nothing to do with comments, abuse or smutty remarks I do occasionally receive here on Deviant Art.
It’s more down to an accumulation of events and situations which have really pissed me off.

Photography is nothing more than my hobby – I dont get paid for doing it, nor do I hardly ever charge for MY time. I always said when I stopped enjoying doing it then it was time to quit and move on. That time has come.

I will not name names, but several models I have worked with have caused me in one way or another to remove or delete pieces of my art. One even claimed “Copyright Violation” on my first book and got it removed from the web! Can you believe that!!!

If it was just one model I wouldn’t care – but it seems nearly every shoot I do now comes attached with “unwanted baggage” which I have to sort out – I’m fed up with doing that.

On the rare occasion I have asked for anything back from a model I assisted in the past, my request was denied. (ie I wanted to use some of the shots on another website for my personal portfolio)

The many, many wasted days I have sat waiting for the model to turn up -and they just dont show…
No emails, no text, no phone call – just cant be bothered to get in touch…. is my time really that worthless to others?

I could bore you with all the other problems with websites, magazines, models, boyfriends, event organizers etc etc but its not worth it…

So there you go …. I will pop back in here every now and again -and I will still try to get my new book released, but it’s very unlikely I will be submitting any more art for quite a while.

I am so sorry that you have decided not to continue – I really enjoed working with you! It is such a shame that people have been so inconsiderate of your time, and have not appreciated your gifts.

Please dont give up entirely – there are many ther photographic avenues you can explore, and it would be such a shame for the world to lose your talent.

This makes me sad as I really enjoy your art – but I do understand your frustrations.

Here’s hoping that you’ll give it another go after some time-out :)
